Discipline description 100 km
The 100km race is a new discipline. It is the first time that it is being held at a Unicon. Never before at a Unicycle World Championships was a race that was as far as this competition. The exciting thing: both teams, as well as a single riders can start. The race takes place on a circuit in Bressanone with the finish in the Unicon16 stadium. The 100km race is the final discipline of Unicon16 and leads to the farewell party.Spectators:
The route runs along the Eisack on both sides of the river. Particularly interesting points along the route are the three bridges, and the stadium with the start, finish, and the swap zone. We expect the fastest 100km-participants to cross the finish line shortly after lunch.Team Size:
Three different classes are possible● solo
● team: 2-4 riders
● team: 5-12 riders
For teams it is allowed to change riders every lap. there is a specially marked area in the stadium to change.
Route:
The start is at the stadium. The track is an 8.4 km long circuit, which must be run 12 times. The route runs along both sides of the river Eisack and goes through the Unicon16 Stadium. Inside the stadium will be the water-stop and the zone to change riders for the teams. The track is very flat and has little but sharp turns; a part of the route is packed gravel and easy forest floor with small roots, but is easy to handle with a 36-inch unicycle. You can view the 100km route online: Link
Start / finish:
Start will begin as a mass start. The finish line is in the stadium.
Timing:
The race is timed with timing chips at the foot of the riders. Teams get two timing chips which allows participants to swap quickly without stopping. Both chips have to be returned after the race at the finish line.
