Track-Race-Info 2, June 2012
To all track-race unicyclist of the world planning to participate at UNICON16 in BrixenThis is the second issue of the Track-Race-Info for Unicon16. In Addition to all the information given in the Track Race Info #1 and the Track Info with the description of the disciplines, this issue gives you further detailed definitions and informations.
IUF-Slalom:
The new IUF rule book defines the starting window to be 3 seconds after the start is open. Therefore we have defined the starting procedure for the IUF-Slalom in the following way:- When the rider is ready the referee starts the starting sequence.
- A voice from the PC-speaker says “Attention!” followed by one beep.
- After this beep the rider has 3 seconds to start. The timer starts when crossing the light barrier at the starting line.
- If the rider does not start within the 3 seconds, the timer starts automatically. In this way the additional waiting time of the rider will increase the racing time.
- If the rider crosses the starting line too early (before or while the beep), or if a flying start was detected, a loud ringing sound is played and the rider has to start again
50m One Foot - 5m line:
The 5m line is judged by looking on the axis of the wheel. This means that the foot must have left the pedal when the unicycle tire is touching the 5m line on the track.Relay 4x100m - baton handover:
For the judging of proper handover of the baton the unicycle axis of the front rider must be within the marked area on the track. This means that judges look exactly when the unicycle of the front rider is within the marks (like at the 5m line in 50m One Foot).Safety gear.
As also written in Unicon16 Newsletter Nr. 7, rider starting without correct safety gear will get disqualified for this race.As defined in the new rule book NO safety gear is necessary for the slow disciplines.
Video-Judging of Slow-Finals:
We will use a video camera with an image capture rate of 20 frames per second. If 3 frames (150msec) do not show any forward movement, it is defined as still stand and the rider is disqualified. This analysis is done, if the judges are not 100% sure and only on the critical parts of the individual race.False Start Monitoring - Training:
For all participants who don't have the chance to test the false start monitoring system during any competition, it is now possible to borrow a special one-lane start-training set for your individual track-race workshop. A sample video on how this device works can be found on you-tube with this LinkIf you are interested, please send your request to >Mail</link>Our aim is to get as many Unicon16 competitors as possible familiar with this technique even before Unicon16.
Anti-Doping Control:
As mentioned in Uncion16 Newsletter Nr. 7 please be aware of the Unicon16 anti-doping rules.Even medicamentation like asthma sprays or similar are already doping. Make sure to bring a medical certificate, if you are in need for such medicamentation.
I hope this additional information will help you all to prepare yourself perfectly for the Unicon16 track races.
See you all soon in Brixen.
Kind regards,
